First off, up to 68% of us are magnesium deficient. 68%!!(ncbi) There are many explanations for this but mainly, our soil is not as nutrient rich as it used to be and our diets don't provide enough of this essential mineral. Magnesium deficiency is linked to depression, high blood pressure and heart disease. Studies show that it can be absorbed through the skin during baths, and is especially helpful for those who have gut damage.
How to do it:
1. Get some Magnesium flakes or Epsom salts. I prefer the flakes as they have a higher concentration. You can get them in store at certain The Vitamin Shoppes or on amazon here.
2. Clean your bathtub with a natural cleaner- I like Mrs. Meyers Multipurpose.
3. Fill up the bathtub 3/4 with very warm water- not too hot, but comfortable to the touch.
4. Pour in the flakes. If you are looking for a cleanse, you can pour several lbs in a single bath but for general use, 3 cups is fine.
5. Add in Himalayan salts, essential oils or flower petals for a divine experience and relax : ) you deserve it!
In addition magnesium helps with:
Muscle aches
Increasing insulin sensitivity
Improving circulation
Better nutrient absorption
Headache relief
Speeding up wound healing
During illness, especially respiratory illness
Insomnia
For acne, eczema or other skin problems
